Hope ya don't mind that I +friended ya. It's Dogsoul from FA, btw.
And yeah. Some'a these I get a lot. The Irish = DRUNK bugs the hell outta me...I was raised in a pretty stereotypical Irish-American family. We did in fact eat a fucktonne of potatos at like every meal, boiled the hell out of our food, and my family was heinously dysfunctional due to my mother being an alcoholic.
So of course a lot of people have in the past assumed junk about me based on that. I don't drink much, I don't like what alcohol does to people, and I have never been truly drunk...so of course people have assumed I'm a closet alcoholic. *eyeroll* Also, people assume that because I was raised on potatos, that I must, due to being of Irish descent, LIKE THEM, which often I do NOT. I'm sick of the bloody things. I'd rather lob off my left hand and eat it raw than so much as LOOK at a boiled potato.
And I gotta agree with you on the bi thing, though I'm a guy...frankly it goes both ways (pun intended!). Heck, it happens to gays, too...people seem to assume that just because Person B matches the gender prefference of Person A, that Person A must be MADLY IN LUST with them. Like there's no OTHER criteria. :B Drives me CRAZY, wether people assume it about me or someone else. :P
The "I WEAR BLACK, so I MUST be a goth." is particularly twitchy for me...I don't even WEAR a tonne of black, and my entire family thinks I'm a goth. I got my ears pierced several times...my dad's reaction: "Is that some new goth fashion?" I'm a submissive and I often wear a collar or (if a collar is inappropriate attire) a tasteful but meaningful choker to denote my submissive status...and my aunt and cousins and dad and (before she died anyway) mother kept insisting that it meant I was a goth.
Nevermind that I have, for YEARS, explained to them that I don't like "gothic" music, I don't go to the clubs, I take NO part in the subculture...nobody cares, they assume I'm some goth guy, 'cause I'm into piercings, tattoos, hair dye and heavy steel-toed boots. 8B
